A Photo A Day – July 2 – Bees

When I pulled out of my parking spot, I saw a bee wriggling on the floor. I just sort of glazed over this scene and left for lunch. When I came back, I pulled into the same spot and looked for the bee. I saw that it had been squished. But then I noticed that there were other dead bees around!

There were about four dead bees and two just wriggling about like the first one. I’m not sure why they were acting so. I tried googling it but my feeble search terms kept coming up with ground bees, digger bees and mining bees. Anyone have any idea what the secret is behind this mysterious bee behavior? Is it a sort of bee dance? Is it the older generation of bees dying?
